Independent Judai Yuki from Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters GX. Selective & private. This is my first time portraying Judai and interacting in the YGO fandom at all, so this will be an interesting ride. I roleplay him mainly based off of the Japanese version of the anime, considering I've never finished the English version, and because the sub is in possession of Season 4, he will be more mature in terms of himself.

INTERACTION!

Mutuals only; askbox is open for whoever, whenever. I'm not afraid to exercise my right to roleplay with whomever I find appropriate, and vice versa. Despite roleplaying an established duelist, I myself am not one, nor am I well-versed in how to run a duel rp, as my knowledge is limited to what I've picked up watching the series.

I do not do 'introdutory', 'greeting', or 'mass' starters. Honestly, I find it tedious to continually write greetings for each new follower that I gain, considering that they are often dropped due to lack of interesting content. I prefer to write with people who want to write with me, and so for that reason I will be making starter calls, and the occasional open for those who are interested. My askbox is also a great way to start a thread with me, so long as you don't reblog it.

Don't pull any stunts such as 'godmod/powerplay' without prior discussion. I see this mentioned quite a bit in other people's rules, but I haven't run into it myself just yet. Still, I'd like to make sure that it'll be known that I do not condone such actions. Honestly, please be sure to take into consideration of my character's strengths and limitations -- they're there for a reason, and if you're ever unsure always ask first. My muse may be human, but it's also acknowledged in canon that he's more than merely human.

DUPLICATES!

I do not mind duplicates. As arrogant as it may sound, I am 100% confident in my portrayal of Judai, and therefore I see no issue with roleplaying with others, though I know that isn't always the case for most. I'm also fully aware that everyone has a preference and unique way of portraying their muse, so I find interacting with people who roleplay duplicates helps to broaden my views on the characters IC and OOC, which I definitely appreciate, so don't shy away if you're interested in a thread together! I promise I won't bite.

I do prefer plotted threads, where at the very least the background details have been sorted out, only so that we don't happen to run into any confusion! There are so many interesting plots for duplicates, so please don't shy away from bringing any of them up at any time! I'll probably say yes, and make a verse for it if I don't already have one.

EXCLUSITIVITY!

Open to being exclusive/mains with, but not entirely reccommended. I use the word "exclusive" with loose meaning, as the idea of interacting with one single person for a single muse is a bit boring in my mind, so I'll be running it with the same terms I stated for my rules on duplicates, which is usually referred to as "semi-exclusitivity". Upon the instance that we become exclusive, I do not mind if you choose to interact with duplicates of Judai, so long as you keep in mind that this particular one is your main. Understand that these will be the terms I will be ruling myself with.

THINGS TO NOTE BEFORE ASKING:

• we must have an comfortable, established relationship OOC prior; communication is key to a healthy exclusitivity
• I will not accept if I happen to enjoy interactions with another duplicate, or if my muse themselves finds the arrangement in distaste

Probably few and far inbetween. I personally do not have any serious triggers to note. I try to avoid reblogging possible triggers if I can get around it, as I suck at tagging the more intricate triggers ( ie. seizure warnings, etc. ). If I do happen to reblog something triggering without the appropriate tags, please let me know so I can fix it.

WRITING STYLE!

Mockingbird-esque; quality > quantity. First Person POV is discouraged here. I do struggle a bit with writing lengthy replies ( 3+ paragraphs ) if I can't find the inspiration for it, mostly due to the fact that I'm terrible when it comes to describing more than what is asked for. I don't really care how you format your posts, as I tend to alter my writing format on an occasional basis, so long as you reply with a reasonable minimum, to which I'll entrust to your own judgement. If you happen to be struggling with length ( or the English language in general ) however, just let me know! I won't be upset, and I'll probably try to help you out.

REPLY SPEED!

Slow, sometimes selective. Give me a week before you ask about my reply. I like to run things at a slower pace than the norm since my muse (and myself) is rather fickle; dont try to force me to run them at yours. I will find it annoying, and then I'll probably just drop the thread all together. I'm more likely to reply to shorter threads over the longer ones, and it's likely that I will be queueing some replies. If you don't see a reply to our thread within a week however, just let me know! I may have lost it in my drafts.

SHIPPING!

Selective shipping. Understand that my portrayal of Judai describes him as a hardly romantic individual in spite of his bright personality. Because of this lack of understanding in deep, emotional investments, romantic relationships will be difficult to ignite, if they ignite at all. And because of how oblivious he can be, interests in the physical can be slow to happen. Because of this I place a heavy focus on chemistry in a relationship. I also don't care much for exclusivity as there are many different types of relationships to be had, but if you'd prefer an exclusitivity in this department, please talk to me about it. I'll gladly see if we can reach an agreement.

NSFW!

Dependent on the situation. This is typically a SFW blog, and I while I am of age, I generally do not participate in explicit smut threads mainly because it's awkward to write such an intimate thing with partners most of the time, as well as the fact that my muse isn't exactly a regular in such a topic. I'm more inclined to write smut for drabbles and the like, where I am the one in control. Fade-to-blacks and heavy makeout sessions however are doable if need be, and I'm perfectly fine having NSFW threads due to factors such as violence, gore, or general fuckery, and encourage such.

Judai's fit physique comes from a combination of his naturally high metabolism and his insatable need for constant activity and movement, as he finds it difficult to sit still in even the best of times. In fact, his physique is mostly built with lean, strong muscles, usually able to go unnoticed to the uncareful eye. One would be surprised with the strength he is naturally capable of in more ways than one as well, as he has a natural affinity for the physical toils as seen from his multiple displays of athleticism, the limits of which were increased after he fused his soul with Yubel's own. Yubel's influence can be largely noticed during the moments when he taps into her power as his eyes change to match her own, glowing a bright orange and green to signal active use. His youthful, boyish features have been denoted as "handsome" or "cute", a fact that resides in the shadow of his obliviousness.

His style in terms of attire is one that rarely changes, as most of his outfits sport a similar style, though one thing to note is that everything is generally well-fitted to his physique. Normally he can be found wearing a longer version of the Osiris Red uniform coat unbuttoned over a fitted, long-sleeved black shirt with an open mandarin-styled high collar, dark jeans in place of the standard dorm uniform's white pants, and red shoes. His deck box is kept strapped at his waist, mostly hidden by the length of his shirt, and he wears his Academy-issued Osiris Red duel disk on his left arm.

When dressing otherwise, he swaps out his Academy coat for either a light brown jacket, or a similarly styled black coat, and shoes in either black or brown. He can often be seen carrying a red and black cylindrical drawstring rucksack over his shoulder, containing food, supplies, spare clothes, a laptop computer, and Pharaoh the cat.

It's an undeniable fact that Judai is a kind individual, despite his flaws. His warm personality renders creating new friendships an easy task, though he does understand little of the actual depth concerning such emotional investments. His tenacity to be carefree often causes him to get into trouble, and it's been noted before that he doesn't entirely hold much interest in things that don't involve dueling or duel monsters, an activity he enjoys to the core. Of course, the last is subject to speculation as time passes on.

He can be rather ignorant to things that may seem obvious to others (such as Manjoume's initial dislike, or Asuka's apparent feelings of affection). Nevertheless, he does possess an intellect worthy for someone with a dossier like his own, something that became more pronounced after his fusion with Yubel, and he as a person matured. His intellect can also be seen in his surprising ability to turn the tide of a duel in his favour when all else seems lost.

With such a relaxed disposition it isn't often that he angers when someone insults him, considering he's apt to brush it off with a joke. Should the target of the insults be his deck or his friends, however, he can anger quite quickly. For all that he is, there are times where his emotions and thoughts can get the best of him, at times drawing him into a depression, though those times tend to be rare and such negativity can easily be banished with the help of his deck and his friends, as they give him the strength and resolve to continue on.

CAPABILITIES!

athelticism. Judai possesses an incredible amount of athleticism, allowing him outstanding skills in both speed and strength, as well as general skill in acrobatics, all of which were furthered even farther after his fusion with Yubel, as he's seen to be capable of jumping from platform to platform while escaping from a detonating KaibaCorp building, as well as from building to building during the time he was attacked by Paradox.

luck of the draw. His incredible luck of the draw is shown several times throughout the series, seen mainly through his 10-day winning streak of correctly choosing the Golden Eggwich from many similarly unmarked packages, as well as correctly picking out the Joker from a pair of playing cards and choosing the salmon-flavoured sushi from several others (all of which were virtually indistinguishable from the outside). His skill can also be seen during duels when he manages to draw a card needed to turn the tide of the duel in his favour against the odds, though that may simply be the spirit of his deck responding to his strong force of will.

the gentle darkness. An ability that resides within his soul, it gives him the power to see and hear Duel Monster spirits and control them. He can also manifest them in the real world, which auguments their power. It was originally a power used by the Supreme King, who was Judai's reincarnation in the past. Using this ability on its own seems to warp Judai's warm personality to one far colder and ruthless, though that appears to only have been a situation-dependent occurance, as at the time of awakening this ability, his mind was under the corruption of his own feelings of animosity and austerity, prior to having to have lost his trust and his friends.

hybrid soul. After fusing their two souls, Yubel's powers have allowed him the ability to sense the thoughts and emotions of people, see visions of the future, as well as protect him from other supernatural powers such as hypnosis. Her influence also seems to gift him with a slightly increased amount of stamina and endurance, as he's been seen to be able to withstand crashing into a solid building and come out with nothing but "minor scratches". She also seems to afford him similar abilities in regards to The Gentle Darkness, or simply helps him control and manipulate it.

POST-SERIES/BBT MOVIE.

default. It has been some time since he graduated from Duel Academia but now he's out and about in the world, traveling with the wind and helping out anyone who happens to be on the way with altruistic kindness. By now he's matured well, and dueling is still something close to his heart, but no matter their age, an man will always be a boy, and trouble is never too far away. Default age is 19.

SEASON 4.

open. No longer truly human but instead something more, the fracture in his life has forced a distance between him and his friends for fear of drawing them once more into trouble, but guilt has never been a kind master. Focuses primarily on the season 4 portrayal of Judai, after he fuses with Yubel and is forced to grow up. Aged 17/18.

SEASONS 1-3.

open. A proud Osiris Red, sleeping in class has become the norm for Judai, and he continues to baffle the school body with his surprising dueling skills, which are impressive for someone of his rank. Basically covers any time period between season 1 through 3, where Judai is still a student at Duel Academia, and before he fuses with Yubel. Aged 15-17.

MODERN AU.

***POSSIBLE TRIGGERS: MENTAL ILLNESS/DISORDER, NIGHTMARES/NIGHT TERRORS, THE GENERAL INABILITY TO DISCERN REALITY FROM IMAGINATION. Research into the mental illnesses mentioned below is still being conducted, and is subject to change should I discover a diagnosis that better suits the situation. After a long string of nightmares, with the help of a hypnotist Judai's case of childhood schizophrenia was presumed to be treated by his doctors and his parents, and Judai grew up like any other child, his days filled with cards from a popular game. His once forgotten illness would slowly rear its head once more as time continued on, however, breathing imaginary life into his favourite characters. Default age is 15+, but otherwise changeable.

open; version 2. Born with the eccentric mind of a genius, Judai has flown up the ranks of the scientific world, most well known for his work on fusion, and lesser known for his interest in the more medieval studies of alchemy. Despite his brillance however, there's always talk about his level of sanity, as rumours of his mental instability are always circling. Default age is 26+.

CORRUPTION/VILLAIN DIVERGENCE.

open. He's power and grace and you sure as hell better back the heck up before he punches you in the face. Ruthless, he rules his subjects with a firm hand, cruel and merciless with his punishments. This is a verse that focuses on Judai's villainous persona, Haou (The Supreme King), and can be plotted during any instance between his revival onward. Both canon and canon-divergent. Aged 16+.

TWIN AU

for duplicates. Born as a pair of twins, Judai and Jaden often spent their childhood without much company outside themselves, sharing expereiences, hobbies, and even personalities to a point. As the older brother however, he often was the one more likely to stave off the more immature impulses, after years of being told by his parents that "he was the older brother". That ideal has stuck with him since. Any age range.
